Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working with NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. In the year 1967, Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). The following year, she was General Correspondent at NBC News in Washington. In 1981 she started covering the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. When she joined NBC News in 1992, Mitchell was appointed to be the chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell was on the panel of the TV show Meet the Press and also host of the show. She was on the panel in the debates for president in 1988, between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in journalism. In 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contribution to the protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on The White House first for NBC News between 1981-1988, during the time of Ronald Reagan's two term as president. Mitchell covered a wide range of interesting stories including the Iran-contra controversy and tax reform. She traveled alongside Ronald Reagan throughout his numerous trips to summits around the world and covered often.
